In Late 2009 I was sent a record by a band from of all places, Finland. It had a characteristic silly “Euro” title “Gas Station Masturbation”. Needless to say I was rather skeptical, so I tossed it the car with me on the way to run some errands and hit up the P.O. Box. to mail some stuff out… frankly I was expecting a sort of Italian-esque generic Queerscore record that sounds like an amalgam of Screeching Weasel -meets- girl- chasing bubblegum Whoa-oh Yeah Yeahs.

Well goddamn, was I wrong!

As I fast forwarded to each next song in disbelief that this record was so goddamn rocking I was dumbfounded and shot the band an email asking to do a U.S. release! We came to terms and added a bonus track and now have what I think is a record that will please the most fickle of punks. The Dwyers rip though 12 songs with pure passion for greatness. Gruff vocals, hard guitars, churning drums. If you don’t get what the band is about listening to tracks like “Waiting for A Bullet” or “Happy”, time to go indie rock my friend, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

Simply put, The Dwyers “Gas Station Masturbation” is an underground punk classic.
